Rockland County Sheriff’s Communications Division Earns National Accreditation Renewal
Yisroel R.
The Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Communications Division has received a renewal of its Agency Training Program Accreditation (ATPA) from APCO International, confirming that the county’s 911 training program continues to meet national standards.
The ATPA program evaluates training for emergency dispatchers and reviews more than 150 areas of instruction. Accreditation is awarded by a national committee made up of experienced emergency communications professionals.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Rockland is one of only two agencies in New York State — and the only agency in the Hudson Valley — to hold this accreditation. This marks the division’s third accreditation cycle, with the original certification first achieved in January 2020. Nationwide, fewer than two percent of the 5,748 911 centers in the United States have earned this distinction.
An award ceremony recognizing the achievement is scheduled to take place in San Antonio, Texas in August 2026. Officials congratulated the division’s training staff on what they described as a significant accomplishment for Rockland County’s emergency communications system.
