Rockland County Sets Meeting on Water Protection Plans
By Y.M. Lowy
Rockland County officials will hold an online public session on December 8 from six to seven thirty in the evening to explain upcoming work on local water protection. The meeting will take place through Microsoft Teams and requires registration.
The county plans to give an overview of the Water Task Force timeline through the second quarter of 2026. The session will also cover how New York State supports communities in protecting drinking water and what funding options are available. Examples from nearby projects will be included.
Orangetown Supervisor Kenny and Lauren Bunce from the Hudson Valley Regional Council will speak about how source water protection plans are created for local towns. Kevin McGuinness from the Rockland County Division of Environmental Resources will discuss how land purchases can help protect water sources.
Participants will be able to send in questions before the meeting or during the session through the chat. The county says the event will be recorded and posted online afterward.
More information is available through the county’s Water Task Force at (845) 364-2604.
