Rockland County Executive Delivers 2026 State of the County Address
Rockland County Executive Ed Day delivered his 2026 State of the County address, outlining progress across Rockland County.
Day said the county
has continued to maintain essential services despite economic pressure, noting
that rising costs from state and federal programs could still create future
strain. At the same time, he pointed to steady progress made by county departments
and staff working to improve daily life for residents.
This year’s address
was presented in a video format, featuring department leaders discussing key
efforts in public safety, health services, and infrastructure.
On the public
safety side, the county reported increased enforcement and recovery efforts.
The Office of Consumer Protection secured more than $114,000 in refunds for
homeowners and collected significant penalties from contractors not in
compliance. The Probation Department also returned tens of thousands of dollars
in restitution to victims.
The county’s
Veterans Service Agency helped secure over $1 million in benefits. There is
also a reported decline in drug-related deaths, alongside new recovery
resources.
The county advanced
open space preservation, upgraded parks, and continued improvements to
transportation, including nearly 2 million rides provided through its bus
system.
Day closed by
saying the county remains focused on building for the future while staying
grounded in the needs of residents, calling the past year a step toward
continued growth and stability.
