Rockland County Emergency Teams Train to Improve Public Alerts
This week, members of Rockland County’s Emergency Management Division took part in specialized training in Greene County, hosted by the New York State Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services.
The session focused on IPAWS, the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System. IPAWS is the national system that delivers emergency messages directly to the public, from Wireless Emergency Alerts on cell phones to notifications on TV, radio, and other channels. Its goal is to ensure residents receive accurate information quickly during critical situations.
Keeping skills sharp and systems up-to-date helps them respond more effectively to protect the community.
