Rockland County Emergency Services to Test the Indian Point Sirens Wednesday

Rockland County Fire and Emergency Services will run a test of the Indian Point sirens in Rockland County on Wednesday, March 23rd, between 10:30 am and 11:00 am.

This Siren will be a test and no action by the public is necessary.

In case of an emergency at the nuclear power plant the sirens would be sounded continuously at full volume for 4 minutes followed by instructions and important information via the Emergency Alert System on radio and television stations.

“The sirens are not a signal to evacuate,” RC Fire and Emergency Services wrote. “Rather they are intended to alert the public to tune in for important information and instruction.”

Tomorrow, however, the siren sounding will be a TEST ONLY and no action is warranted.
