Rockland Commuter Comments Encouraged on Proposed MTA Fair and Toll Increase Proposal

Rockland Daily Staff

Rockland County residents and commuters are encouraged to share their comments with the MTA about the proposed fare and toll increases to the West of Hudson lines.

The MTA Board will vote on the fare and toll changes in July, with changes expected to go into effect by Labor Day.

Rockland County Executive Ed Day submitted his own letter on Thursday expressing his opposition to the proposed 4 to 7 percent increases for West of Hudson while, at the same time, the East of Hudson lines are slated to see minimal or even zero increases.

Public hearings began in a hybrid format yesterday, offering in-person and online comment opportunities. Upcoming public hearings will take place over the next few weeks on Thursday, June 22, 2023 (6 pm-9 pm); Friday, June 23, 2023 (10 am-2 pm); and Monday, June 26, 2023 (6 pm-9 pm).

All hearings will occur in person at MTA Headquarters located at 2 Broadway, New York, NY on the 20th Floor and online via Zoom.

Speakers for either format must be pre-registered online here or by calling 646-252-6777.

Comments may also be submitted online, by phone to (646) 252-6777 or by mail to: MTA Government & Community Relations.
