Rescue Operation Amid Storm Leads to Recovery of Drowning Victim in Stony Point

By Rockland Daily Staff
Yesterday, the Thiells Fire Department, along with Stony Point's Dive Team, responded to an emergency call regarding a reported drowning.
Upon arrival, a command post was quickly established, and coordination with park police units was initiated to determine the victim's last known location.
The rescue operation faced significant challenges due to severe weather conditions. Despite this, the dive team strategically deployed as the weather began to ease. Remarkably, within approximately four minutes of entering the water, the diver located the victim about 45 feet from shore.
The scene was subsequently handed over to park police for further investigation. The Thiells Fire Department extends their gratitude to coordinators 44-2 and 44-9 for their crucial assistance on the scene.
