Ramapo Town Board Advances Improvements at Several Intersections Across Monsey

Yisroel R.

The Ramapo Town Board voted Wednesday night to move forward with improvements at two busy intersections across Monsey, while requesting a workshop to further review proposals for two additional locations.

The board approved the proposed improvements at Saddle River Road and Old Nyack Turnpike, as well as Maple Avenue at Howard Drive/Park Lane. Plans for Route 306 and Viola Road and West Maple Avenue and Viola Road will now be discussed further through workshops before the board takes additional action.

Several of the locations have previously been identified in the Town of Ramapo’s broader planning as intersections in need of improvements, with the latest Town Board action moving two projects forward while keeping the remaining two under review.

The planned work includes adding a northbound right-turn lane and upgrading the traffic signal at Route 306 and Viola Road, adding a signal and turn lane at West Maple Avenue and Viola Road, moving forward with a revised plan at Maple Avenue and Howard Drive/Park Lane that reduces the amount of property acquisitions, and adding turn lanes and a signal at Saddle River Road and Old Nyack Turnpike.

The projects are part of the town’s ongoing effort to improve heavily traveled roads and intersections throughout Monsey, with the goal of making everyday travel safer and more convenient for residents.

Further details on the exact scope and timeline of the improvements and workshops are expected as the projects move forward.
