Ramapo Police, Rockland Sheriff Investigating Multiple Vehicle Break-Ins In Montebello Friday Night
YSR.
Ramapo Police and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a series of vehicle break-ins that occurred in Montebello Friday night, with at least four vehicles targeted.
According to initial reports, the suspects entered four vehicles and stole several valuable items. Among the property taken was a pair of tefillin from one of the vehicles.
Footage of one of the incidents shows at least two suspects approaching a Jeep Wagoneer parked outside a residence before breaking into the vehicle, which appears to have potentially been left unlocked. The individuals are seen removing several items before leaving the area a short time later.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incidents and are working to identify those responsible.
Rockland Daily has also obtained surveillance footage showing three individuals attempting to break into additional vehicles on Smolley Drive in Monsey at approximately 3:45 a.m. Shabbos morning. It is unclear whether those incidents are connected to the vehicle break-ins currently under investigation by Ramapo Police and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office.
Residents are urged to lock their vehicles and avoid leaving valuables inside, even in quiet residential neighborhoods. Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is encouraged to contact the Ramapo Police Department or the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office.
