Ramapo Police Issued Dozens of Overnight Parking Summonses to Keep Icy Roads Safe

By Y.M. Lowy

The Town of Ramapo Police Department issued about 60 overnight parking summonses as crews worked through the night to keep local roads safe during icy conditions.

Police say the enforcement was necessary to allow the Highway Department and local DPWs to treat roadways without obstruction. Parked vehicles can block plows and salt trucks, making it harder to clear and treat streets during winter weather.

When cars remain on the road during restricted hours, crews cannot do their jobs effectively, increasing the risk for drivers and pedestrians alike.

Ramapo police and town officials are reminding residents to follow overnight parking regulations, especially during winter weather. Keeping roadways clear allows crews to respond quickly and helps ensure safer travel conditions for the entire community.
