Ramapo Police Continue Enforcement For Overweight Trucks In Airmont

By Idy Perl
The Ramapo Police Department is continuing their enforcement campaign against overweight trucks traveling on Highview Road and North Airmont Road.
Just last week the Ramapo Police set up a checkpoint on North Airmont Road to check passing trucks for weight violations. This week electronic signs were spotted on the side of Highview Road, warning truck drivers about the road's weight limit.
"Over the last several months, the Town of Ramapo has received numerous complaints about commercial vehicles, particularly construction vehicles, traveling along Highview Rd," Michael Specht tells Rockland Daily. "Highview Road, from the area of Rella Blvd. east to College Road, has a 10-ton weight restriction, with exceptions for local deliveries. In an effort to address these concerns and encourage voluntary compliance from motorists, the Ramapo Police Department has deployed electronic sign boards that clearly display the roadway's weight restrictions."
