Pursuit On I-87 Leads To Arrest Of Nyack Man

By Idy Perl

On Monday, April 28, State Police arrested Alexis J. Santiago, 34, of Nyack, for Possession of a Forged Instrument 3rd degree, Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd degree, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer 3rd degree, Driving While Intoxicated and other vehicle and traffic violations, following a pursuit on the I-87.

At around 6:10 pm, State Police initiated a pursuit on a BMW that was traveling northbound on the I-87 near Exit 10 in Orangetown. Heavy traffic on the highway forced the pursuit to come to an end, and State Troopers engaged with the driver, Alexis Santiago. While speaking with him the Troopers detected an odor of alocohol, and Santiago was promptly arrested and transported to Tarrytown for processing. The Thruway was closed briefly due to the incident, but traffic quickly resumed.

Santiago was then turned over to Westchester County Police Departments for warrants. A full investigation is still ongoing.
