Program to Install Cameras on Bus Stop-Sign Arms Introduced to Rockland Schools

Program to Install Cameras on Bus Stop-Sign Arms Introduced to Rockland Schools

by M.C. Millman

As part of Rockland County's new School Safety Initiative, public and private schools attended an information session at the Rockland County Fire Training Cente delivered by BusPatrol to learn about the cameras that can be installed inside and outside local school buses.

The program Rockland Daily originally reported on here includes cameras on the bus arm which can capture drivers driving past the bus who will subsequently be ticketed.

Cameras inside the bus will also be available to capture incidents like bullying.

The installation effort will be funded by the offenders.

Once districts pass a resolution during a school board meeting to opt-in for including the cameras on buses, the cameras can get installed into their school buses.
