Power Outage on Heather Hill Lane in Montebello

By Yisroel R.

Residents on Heather Hill Lane near Robinhood Road in Montebello were left without power beginning around 11 a.m. Wednesday, leaving multiple homes without electricity for much of the day. After being without power for several hours, residents reached out at approximately 6:30 p.m. to Spring Valley Deputy Mayor Sruly Eisenbach for help.

Deputy Mayor Eisenbach immediately contacted Montebello Deputy Mayor Stacy Caridi, who acted swiftly despite it being a busy holiday eve. Deputy Mayor Caridi promptly reached out to Orange & Rockland Utilities, which sent a crew to inspect the situation. Utility officials determined that the outage was caused by a fallen tree that brought down wires midway down Heather Hill Lane.

Deputy Mayor Caridi reported to Rockland Daily that as of now, crews have completed repairs to the transformer, but additional work is still needed to repair the utility pole and downed wires. Power restoration is currently estimated to take place between 1 and 2 a.m.

Deputy Mayor Eisenbach acknowledged Deputy Mayor Caridi’s quick and decisive response, noting her hands-on involvement even during this hectic holiday period. Deputy Mayor Caridi, in turn, commended Eisenbach for stepping in to assist residents even though the outage occurred outside his village, highlighting the cooperation between local officials to ensure residents receive help when needed.
