Police Targeting Aggressive Driving on Palisades Nets Results
Rockland Daily Staff
The results are in! After a two-week Aggressive Driving Campaign focused on the Palisades Interstate Parkway beginning Monday, May 15 and going through Sunday, May 28, New York State Police report that they collected a total of 993 tickets, 527 of them for speeding and 8 Driving While Intoxicated arrests.
The increased number of motor vehicle crashes on the Palisades Interstate Parkway resulting in fatal and serious injuries, was the reason behind the campaign run by New York State Police with the assistance of the Rockland Sheriff’s Office.
NYSP warn drivers that they can expect to see more surveillance on the Palisades going forward to encourage drivers to drive safely, slow down, stay off of all electronic devices, and drive under the influence while respecting other motorists at all times.
