Piermont Fire Department Conducts Water Search Drills

Piermont Fire Department Conducts Water Search Drills

By Idy Perl

Earlier this week, members of the Piermont Fire Department held drills using the side scan sonar system to search for bodies in the water. Utilizing divers who lay at the bottom of the river, the firemen were able to see what a body in the water would look like on the screen during a search.

They conducted several searches and practiced search patterns with boats to ensure they’re properly prepared in case someone goes missing in a body of water. Being that Piermont sits on the Hudson River, the Piermont Fire Department is often called on to participate in searches for people who go missing along the Hudson River.
