Official Statement on Haverstraw Shooting Incident

As reported this afternoon on Rockland Daily Status, a shooting took place in Haverstraw at around 4:20pm.

The Haverstraw Police Department just released the following statement

On Monday July 1, 2024, Haverstraw Patrol units responded to the area of Fairmount Avenue and West Street on a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, units observed a vehicle crashed into a parked car opposite 9 Fairmount Avenue and the driver next to the vehicle on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso area. The victim was transported to Nyack Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The victim has been identified as Christian Alvarado, 29 years old of Pomona, NY.

The investigation is ongoing, and we are asking the public to call the Haverstraw Police Department at 845-354-1500 with any information they may have regarding this incident.
