Nyack Water Did Not Meet Health Requirements

Nyack Water Did Not Meet Health Requirements

By Idy Perl

The Village of Nyack is letting residents know that their water recently did not meet health requirements. Although no action is needed at this time and the water didn't pose a danger to those who drank it, the Village is sharing the information now to be transparent with residents.

The Village admitted that on several days in December '24 and January '25, the water did not receive a full disinfectant treatment. Tests at the time did not indicate dangerous bacteria in the water, and drinking it did not pose a health risk. Had it been an emergency residents would've been notified immediately.

The Village is now working with the Rockland County Department of Health and updating their operating procedures to ensure that it does not happen again.
