Residents in Nyack and South Nyack may notice discolored water or reduced water pressure over the coming nights as the Nyack Water Department begins a five-day hydrant flushing operation today, Monday, October 12.

According to an advisory issued by the Village of Nyack, crews will flush water mains and hydrants throughout Nyack and South Nyack from Monday, October 12, through Friday, October 16, with work taking place overnight between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

The flushing may temporarily cause water to appear yellow, orange, or brown, and some residents may also experience a reduction in water pressure while the work is underway.

Residents who use booster pumps are being instructed to turn them off during the flushing period.

The Water Department advises anyone experiencing discolored water after flushing hours to run their cold-water tap until the water becomes clear.

The Village thanked residents for their cooperation as crews carry out the scheduled work throughout the week.
