The County Highway Department and the Town of Haverstraw celebrated the completion of the new Grassy Point Bridge in Haverstraw.

According to bridge inspection reports, the old bridge carrying Grassy Point Road over the Minisceongo Creek posed safety concerns to motorists and pedestrians.

Construction of the bridge began last November and the new bridge officially opened last week on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

The new modern bridge is now capable of carrying all legal loads. The new bridge was constructed adjacent to the old bridge so as not to interrupt traffic throughout the construction process. The removal of the existing old superstructure, along with some minor work, will be completed in the next few months.
