New Ardsley Service Area Opens for Travelers

by M.C. Millman

The newly renovated Ardsley Service Area is now open with the goal of adding to the traveling experience.

The Ardsley Service Area is located near mile marker six on I-87 in Hastings-on-Hudson and is accessible from I-87 with Northbound access between exits 6A – Yonkers Toll Barrier and exit 7 – Ardsley. The location is the seventh new service area to open of the twenty-seventh service areas being redeveloped as part of the $450 million private investment Service Area Redesign and Redevelopment Project. The service areas were built in the 1950s, with the last significant renovations completed in the 1990s.

Construction is underway on ten other service areas as well. When the project is finished, 23 of the 27 service area restaurant buildings will be rebuilt, with significant renovations and upgrades to the remaining four. Other amenities include Taste NY markets, modern restaurant concepts, outdoor seating, food trucks, and playgrounds.

The entire project is being done in partnership with Empire State Thruway Partners, and no toll or tax dollars were used for construction.
