New 7.5-Mile Trail Along the Hudson River

By Y.M. Lowy
The Hudson River Valley’s popular hiking spots often lead to overcrowding in nearby towns, but a new 7.5-mile trail aims to change that.
The Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail will connect other trails -- including Breakneck Ridge, Sugarloaf, Taurus, and South Beacon mountains - while providing biking, rail, and wheelchair access along the river.
By keeping hikers off State Route 9D, the trail will make visits safer and more enjoyable while easing traffic in local towns. Open to walkers, bikers, and disabled people, it will give more people a chance to explore the beautiful area.
