In the wake of the devastating tragedy that shook the Monsey community earlier this month, dozens of school bus drivers gathered Sunday evening for a special safety refresher course aimed at reinforcing best practices and heightening awareness behind the wheel.
The program, organized for drivers serving Mosdos Viznitz, was held at Ateres Zekeinim, located at 17 Phyllis Terrace in Monsey. The initiative followed the tragic accident in which a young child lost her life after being struck by a school bus, a heartbreaking incident that left the entire community in mourning and prompted renewed calls for vigilance and enhanced safety measures.
The refresher course served as an opportunity for drivers to review emergency procedures, discuss real-life scenarios, and share experiences that can help prevent future tragedies. Organizers emphasized that ongoing education and periodic training are invaluable tools in strengthening a culture of safety among professional drivers.
Community leaders commended the initiative, noting that while nothing can erase the pain of the recent loss, every effort must be made to learn from the tragedy and do everything possible to safeguard the lives of children entrusted to school transportation each day.
The gathering concluded with heartfelt tefillos that Hashem grant comfort to the bereaved family, protect all children traveling to and from school, and bless every driver with the wisdom, vigilance, and Heavenly assistance necessary to carry out their sacred responsibility safely.
