Yesterday afternoon, Orange County Chaveirim’s Search & Rescue Team responded to a report of a missing hiker in Harriman State Park, located near Tuxedo, NY. The call came in after the individual failed to return from a hike, prompting an immediate and coordinated search effort.
Upon arrival, the team located the hiker’s vehicle, which served as a critical starting point for the search. Using knowledge of the park’s terrain and common behavioral patterns of lost hikers, the team launched a focused operation. Their strategy allowed them to narrow down potential locations where the individual might have gone off trail.
Within just two hours, the hiker was safely located after veering off the marked path. The successful outcome is a testament to the team’s ongoing training, rapid mobilization, and strong coordination. Thanks to their efforts, the hiker was brought back without injury, and the operation concluded smoothly.
