Memorial Day Events Scheduled Across Rockland County

Communities across Rockland County are preparing to honor the nation’s fallen heroes with a series of Memorial Day events beginning this Sunday, May 25.

Sunday, May 25:

The Village of Montebello will host a ceremony at Village Hall at 9:00 AM.

The Village of Airmont will follow with their event at Village Hall at 10:00 AM.

At 12:00 PM, the Rockland County Veterans Coordinating Council will hold a memorial service at the Frederick Loescher Veterans Cemetery, located at 220 Brick Church Road in Spring Valley.

Later in the day, at 1:00 PM, a separate service will take place at the Gary Onderdonk Veterans Memorial Cemetery on the campus of Rockland Community College. Following the ceremony, participants will walk together to pay respects to Korean War veterans.

Monday, May 26:

The Village of Hillburn will kick off the day with a parade starting at the Suffern Central School District on Mountain Avenue at 9:00 AM.

Sloatsburg will hold its parade at 10:00 AM, followed by Suffern at 11:00 AM.

Also at 11:00 AM, a service will be held at the Fred Eller American Legion Post 1447 in Airmont.

Thursday, May 29:

The annual Memorial Day Watch Fires Ceremony will be held at Eugene Levy Park at 11:30 PM. The ceremonial fire will burn for 24 hours in honor of those who served and sacrificed.
