A man has been arrested in connection with a burglary at a restaurant on South Liberty Drive in Stony Point.

On Monday, around 9:35 AM, Stony Point Police responded after the business owner reported finding the cash register pried open and loose change scattered on the floor. Detectives reviewed security video, which showed a man using a screwdriver to force open the register and steal an estimated $300 to $500 before leaving through the back door.

The suspect matched the description of a man wanted in a similar burglary in Nanuet. Working with the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office and Clarkstown Police, detectives identified the suspect and located him at the Stony Point Budget Motor Inn. He was placed under surveillance and later taken into custody without incident.

The man is currently being held at the Rockland County Jail, with a court date set for Friday.
