Major Route 59 Overpass Closure In Spring Valley Delayed Until June 3

Yisroel R.

A major Route 59 closure that was expected to begin this week in Spring Valley has been delayed, giving drivers a few extra days before a large traffic shift takes effect.

The planned shutdown involves the Route 59 overpass above South Pascack Road, a busy area used daily by drivers traveling through Spring Valley and entering Monsey. The closure is now expected to begin on June 3rd.

The project is expected to close that section of Route 59 while crews carry out major work on the overpass. Once the closure begins, drivers will need to follow posted detours around the work zone, and traffic delays are expected in the surrounding area.

The closure is especially significant because Route 59 is one of the main roads through the area, connecting drivers between Monsey, Spring Valley, Nanuet, and other parts of Rockland County. Even a small disruption on Route 59 can quickly create backups, and a full overpass closure is expected to have a much larger impact.

Local drivers should use the delay to prepare alternate routes before the June 3 start date. Businesses in the area are expected to remain open, though access may be affected depending on the detour pattern and traffic conditions once construction begins.

The work is expected to continue through the summer, with the overpass closure currently expected to remain in place until around Labor Day.
