Local Officials And Residents Celebrate Completion Of Cragmere Road Sidewalk

By Idy Perl

On Friday afternoon, local politicians joined Suffern residents to celebrate the completion of the new sidewalk on Cragmere Road, which has been the site of several accidents in the last few years.

Last July, Senator Bill Weber visited the road and local residents pointed out the lack of safe sidewalks and lighting, which put pedestrians at risk when walking on the narrow street. Weber pledged to advocate with state officials to resolve the issue. As Cragmere Road is located in Ramapo, Airmont, and Suffern, Town Supervisor Michael Specht met with the mayors of Airmont and Suffern, as well as with town engineers, to come up with proposals for new sidewalks.

After a lot of hard work, the sidewalks on Cragmere have now been completed, and pedestrians can safely walk down the street. Local officials gathered at the site on Friday to celebrate the new sidewalk, and the residents presented the officials with plaques to express their gratitude for all their efforts and advocacy.
