Local Leaders Meet With Businesses Affected by CHPE Pipeline

By Y.M. Lowy

Local leaders met with business owners today to talk about how the Champlain Hudson Power Express (CHPE) pipeline is affecting small businesses in the area.

Senator Bill Weber, Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt, and Rockland County Executive Ed Day held a roundtable at Global Collision in Congers. The meeting included representatives from several local businesses, the Lower Hudson Valley Small Business Development Center, and the North Rockland Chamber of Commerce.

The roundtable focused on the economic impact the pipeline project has had on local businesses and looked at ways to support them at the state level. Businesses represented included Global Collision, Titan Fitness, Hole Shot, Deli Central, Yummies, Stony Point Bagel, and Toy Wiz.

This was a follow-up to a meeting held on September 4 at Haverstraw Town Hall. The goal is to keep the conversation going between local business owners and state leaders so that their concerns are heard and addressed.

The roundtable is part of ongoing efforts to make sure that local businesses impacted by large projects like CHPE have a voice in decisions that affect them.
