Lag Ba’Omer Celebrations on Bates to Commemorate Shragee Gestetner, z”l, Meron Victim

One year from the night that Shragee Gestetner lost his life in the Meron tragedy, his friends and family will be marking the hillula of Rabi Shimon Bar Yochai along with the inauguration of a sefer Torah dedicated in his memory.

Shragee was a popular and talented singer who transformed himself into a serious benTorah, waking in the wee hours of the morning to dedicate hours to limud haTorah. He also had a deep connection to Rabi Shimon, and would journey to Meron year after year without fail.

It is fitting that his loved ones would dedicate a new Torah to his memory on the very night that carried so much meaning in his life, on the hillula of Rashbi with which his memory will be forever linked.
