Just In: Historic Shabbos With the Satmar Rebbe and the Monsey Kehila to Take Place in Stamford, CT
By Rockland Daily Staff
In a dramatic and historic announcement just confirmed by Khal Yetev Lev D’Satmar in Monsey, it has been announced that this coming Shabbos Parshas Shoftim (6 Elul), the Satmar Rebbe, shlita, will be spending Shabbos in Stamford, Connecticut, together with the chassidim of Monsey, in honor of the yahrtzeit of the Yetev Lev, zy”a, which falls this year on Shabbos.
The historic Shabbos will be held at the Armon Hotel, which has been fully reserved for this special occasion, and will be transformed into a makom kodesh for the Tefilos and Tishen.
For years, the Monsey Satmar kehila has had the honor of hosting the Rebbe on the yahrtzeit of the holy Yetev Lev. However, this year’s event carries extra significance: the yahrtzeit falls on Shabbos, something that will not occur again for another 20 years. Recognizing the importance of this rare occasion, the Monsey kehillah approached the Rebbe with a heartfelt request to once again mark the yahrtzeit in Monsey, and lead the Shabbos within the Kehila.
The Rebbe agreed, and to accommodate the rapidly growing community and the large crowds expected, the decision was made to host the Shabbos in the Armon Hotel, which will allow for greater participation and comfort.
More details on this special Shabbos will be shared in the coming days.
