Israeli Municipal Leaders Visit New Square, Meet with the Skver Rebbe

A diverse group of 45 Israeli municipal leaders, including deputy mayors and city councilmembers are currently on a tour of New York and Washington D.C., visiting Jewish communities and engaging with local leaders to share ideas and strengthen ties.

As part of their visit, the group spent time in New Square, where they toured the Refuah Health Center and held a meeting with the Mayor of New Square and Hatzolah representatives. The discussions focused on shared challenges faced by askanim and organizations in Charedi communities—both in Israel and the U.S.—and the exchange of ideas on how to better serve their respective residents.

The highlight of their visit was a special meeting with the Skverer Rebbe. The Rebbe warmly welcomed the group, asked each individual what role they play in their local community, and gave each one a personal bracha. In his address to the delegation, the Rebbe emphasized the power of unity, noting that while each person comes from a different background and follows their own mesorah and minhagim, everyone can still learn from the good they see in others.

The group included representatives from a wide range of Chareidi communities comprising of Chassidish, Litvish and Sephardi officials, reflecting a beautiful spirit of diversity and cooperation among Israel’s local leadership.
