Increased Patrols for Thanksgiving Holiday to Focus on Impaired and Aggressive Driving
The Town of Haverstraw Police Department will be deploying additional patrols during the Thanksgiving holiday period, beginning Wednesday evening,
November 27, 2024. These patrols will specifically target Driving While Intoxicated/Impaired (DWI), speeding, and aggressive or distracted driving.
“Impaired and drunk driving remain significant threats to the safety of our roadways,” said Chief John J. Gould Jr. “Traffic enforcement is crucial to protecting our community and ensuring this holiday is a safe one for all.”
The increased patrols are part of a larger, statewide effort to prevent impaired driving and improve roadway safety. “We stand alongside our law enforcement partners, throughout the
County and State of New York, in our shared mission to discourage, detect, and apprehend impaired drivers,” Chief Gould added.
The department urges all motorists to drive responsibly, stay alert, and prioritize safety as they travel this Thanksgiving. By working together, we can prevent unnecessary tragedies and ensure safe holiday travel for everyone.
