Howard Johnson's in Airmont Sells to Yeshiva

by Mindy Cohn
Airmont's four-story Howard Johnson's on North Airmont Road was sold for $9.1 million to Yisroel Eisenberg through a New York LLC based in the Bronx.
The 2.72-acre hotel was last renovated in 2007 and has 54 rooms.
The site was purchased for conversion into a yeshiva with a dorm for 140, 14-18-year-old boys.
An addition to the side of the building is also planned for a bais medrash. All changes depend on the yeshiva receiving the approval of the Airmont Planning Board, which needs to okay the proposal for an amended site plan and special use permit before the former hotel can be converted into a yeshiva.
