Highway Crews Begin Early Morning Snow Operations Across Rockland
In preparation for this morning’s snowstorm, the highway department was called in at 4 a.m. to begin road treatment and plowing efforts, according to a statement provided to Rockland Daily by Fred Brinn of the highway department.
Brinn said all highway trucks have been deployed and remain fully operational, covering unincorporated areas of Ramapo as well as the villages serviced by the department. Officials do not expect major issues from the storm, but residents are urged to use caution while traveling.
Residents are also reminded to keep parked vehicles off local streets to allow crews to properly clear roadways.
Snow showers are expected to continue through the morning, transitioning to a rain and snow mix between 2 and 3 p.m. and continuing into the early evening. The initial forecast called for 1 to 2 inches of snow, with a chance of up to 3 inches. However, about 3 inches have already fallen, and an additional 1 to 2 inches are still expected.
