Heavy Rain, Potentially Severe Weather to Descend on New York Area Following Earlier Rain

By: Yaker Biegeleisen
NYC, Rockland, and the Catskills areas are about to get hit with heavy rain later this evening, with the potential for thunderstorms.
This comes after increasing humidity in the air, together with an arriving cold front--causing heaving rainfall and potential thunderstorms.
The rain comes on the heels of intense rainfall in the Jersey and Rockland County areas, which saw an incredible three inches of rain in one hour.
While people should take precautions for potential flash flooding and downed tree limbs and utility wires, the rainfall will be welcome, as we have received less than usual amount of rain, and water reservoirs are at a critical shortfall.
Following this, we enter a phase of very warm weather which will remain with us for a stretch of a few days.
