Rockland Daily Staff

The white powdery substance found at the Spring Valley Police Department and Courthouse on Wednesday night, as reported on Rockland Daily here turned out to have trace elements of fentanyl in it.

Ahmed Ahmed, thirty-seven, was searched during a routine warrants arrest, as the homeless man has multiple outstanding warrants for criminal contempt. During the search, the white powdery substance was found.

After the discovery, the powder was securely bagged and placed in the rear parking lot of the police department. The Rockland County Hazardous Materials Team was called to the scene to test the substance.

The test revealed a non-hazardous, trace amount of fentanyl.

Ahmed is being held in the Rockland County Jail on $ 5,000 cash bail.
