Haverstraw–Ossining Ferry Replaced by Bus Service Due to Icing on Hudson River
By Yisroel R.
The Haverstraw–Ossining Ferry, which carries Rockland County passengers across the Hudson River to Ossining in Westchester County and its Metro-North station, was replaced by bus service due to icing conditions on the river, county officials announced. Many passengers use the ferry to connect to Metro-North trains for travel into Manhattan.
According to Rockland County officials, the change will take effect for the January 20 evening commute and will remain in place until further notice, as icy conditions on the Hudson River make ferry operations unsafe.
To accommodate riders, substitute buses are operating between Haverstraw and Tarrytown Station, allowing passengers to continue connecting with Metro-North service into Manhattan.
County officials said updates will be provided as conditions change and urged riders to check public transportation alerts for the latest information before traveling.
