Hatzoloh of Rockland Warns Rocklanders About Heatwave Over Tisha B'Av

Rockland Daily Staff

Hatzoloh of Rockland sent out an erev Tisha B'Av notice to Rockland residents regarding the expected heatwave over the next day.

"This extreme weather condition can pose significant health risks, particularly for those with pre-existing health issues or difficulties fasting."

Hatzoloh advises anyone with health concerns or difficulties fasting to take necessary precautions. This includes preparing correctly for the fast by hydrating adequately. It is also important to stay indoors as much as possible in well-ventilated, cool spaces and avoid strenuous, physically demanding activities. If an individual has an underlying health condition or other concerns, Hatzoloh advises they get personalized guidance from a healthcare professional.

Be on the lookout for symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke. Seek immediate medical attention for anyone showing any signs. According to the CDC, signs of heat stroke include a body temperature of 103 or higher, hot, red, dry, or damp skin, fast, strong pulse, headache, dizziness, nausea, confusion, and loss of consciousness. See the complete chart on heat-related illnesses here

"While fasting is an essential aspect of Tisha B'Av, health and safety should always be a top priority." Hatzoloh reminds the community. "If you are experiencing difficulties with fasting, it is essential to seek guidance and advice from your local Rav."
