From Rockland to Vermont: Local Youth Police Academy Graduate Joins Vermont State Police

By Y. Ganz

A proud moment for the North Rockland community: Chris Santic, a 2016 graduate of the North Rockland Youth Police Academy (NRYPA), has officially graduated from the Vermont State Police Academy.

The NRYPA, a joint initiative of the Stony Point and Haverstraw Police Departments, provides local youth with hands-on experience and insight into police work. While many graduates move on to a wide range of careers, the program hopes to inspire a future generation of public servants. In Chris’s case, it may have been the first step toward a lifelong calling.

“We’re incredibly proud of Chris and all that he has accomplished,” said a spokesperson for the program. “We hope the Youth Police Academy played even a small part in helping him choose this rewarding path.”

Trooper Santic was also recognized with a special award during the Vermont State Police Academy graduation, highlighting not only his hard work, but his dedication to the field of law enforcement. He now begins his career with the Vermont State Police, and the entire North Rockland community joins in wishing him a safe and successful journey in service.

The next session of the North Rockland Youth Police Academy is scheduled to begin this September. Interested applicants can reach out to Detective Spatta for more information at 845-354-8972 or via email at [email protected].
