Friday Night Fire Damages Home in Suffern

A  house fire was reported on  Old Pomona Road in Suffern at 5:30 Friday evening. 

Upon arrival, units from the Hillcrest Fire Company No. 1  followed the smoke and fire visible from the front door that led to the basement. The units managed to quickly extinguish the basement fire and were able to stop the fire from spreading to the rest of the home by containing the fire to the boiler room and surrounding area, due to the quick response of the firefighters.

The Hillcrest Fire Company No.1 was assisted by the Thiells and Monsey Fire Departments as well as Spring Hill Ambulance and the Ramapo Police Department.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Sheriffs BCI Office and Ramapo Detectives.
