Field Dedicated in Orange & Rockland's Honor

Rockland Farm Alliance, one of Orange & Rockland's (O&R) largest community partners, has dedicated a field to the organization to thank them.

Rockland Farm Alliance's mission is to conserve farmland by bringing the community together through local, sustainable farming projects and agricultural education programs.

Rockland Farm Alliance has dedicated the north field at the historic Cropsey Farm in New City to O&R. The north field is Rockland Farm Alliance's main food production field, where dozens of varieties of organic vegetables are grown and donated to low-to-moderate income families throughout the County. The group also installed a special plaque on the field's fencing.

According to Sue Ferreri, Rockland Farm Alliance executive director, the field needed more fencing to prevent deer and other animals from eating the crops. O&R, who began a partnership with Rockland Farm Alliance just over a decade ago, provided a $25,000 grant, allowing the group to invest in adequate fencing around the field.

"We have had a longstanding relationship with O&R, and we could not thank them enough for all they do," said Ferreri. "Because of them, we've been able to take leaps forward. Our community is better because of O&R's involvement."

"I have proudly worked with the Rockland Farm Alliance for the last 10 years," said Linda Feger, O&R's manager of strategic partnerships. "To be able to share sustainability goals with a local partner allows us to give so much back to families in our service area."
