Fawn Rescued After Getting Stuck in Fence in Suffern

By Akivah W.

A fawn in Suffern was rescued this evening after becoming trapped in a fence, thanks to the quick response of Rockland Wildlife volunteers and the Suffern Hook and Ladder Company. Upon receiving the call, volunteers rushed to the scene with tools, while one team member coordinated with local firefighters to meet them on-site.

When they arrived, the distressed fawn was gently covered with a blanket to reduce stress while firefighters carefully spread the fence bars. Andres, a volunteer, held the animal’s back legs as the fawn was freed within seconds, sustaining only minor fur loss and superficial wounds before running off safely.

The rescue highlighted the power of community collaboration, with Rockland Wildlife and Suffern Hook and Ladder Company praised for their swift and dedicated response to help both people and animals in need.
