Exploring Rockland: Congers Lake Park
By Idy Perl
Just 20 minutes out of main Monsey lies a gorgeous park tucked
away in Congers.
Congers Lake Park is a beautiful park that, as the name
suggests, is centered around the large Congers Lake. The lake is surrounded with trees
and lush greenery that can make you forget it’s in a residential area.
The park has a children’s playground where kids can play and run around, and beautiful fields and flowers growing near the lake with benches scattered around. But the main attraction is probably the 8-foot-wide paved pathway that meanders all around the lake, and in some spots becomes a boardwalk right on the water. The path is a total of 2.6 miles around the 100 acre lake.
The playground, which is at a separate entrance, has a sign stating that it's open for Clarkstown residents only, but the walkway around the park is open to the public. Parking for the trail is at 61 Gilchrest Rd, Congers, NY.
