Ahead of Tuesday's election for mayor of Spring Valley, Rockland Daily spoke exclusively with Schenley Vital, widely expected to become the next mayor of the village.

Mr. Vital noted his commitment, first and foremost, to addressing the infastructure and municipal needs of the residents of the village of Spring Valley, such as cleaning the streets, fixing potholes, ensuring ample green spaces for the children to play and thrive. He noted that these are universal needs for any community, including the orthodox residents of the village.

In addition, he said, it's important to bring back the building department in the village--which has been absent in recent years. This will ensure orderly development in the village, and a soure of revenue to the village.

Mr. Vital noted his long history of working with all kinds of people, from the various town in the area. "I intend to work closely with the various board members to address the issues that matter to the community. Fighting with the board members isn't the way to accomplish this, and I hope my reputation precedes me and someone who is able to negotiate and find compromise and common ground. We must deliver for the residents who want a village board and government which is working and not fighting."

Spring Valley is a diverse place, he said. And I believe that our diversity is our strength.

In closing, Mr. Vital told Rockland Daily: "God willing, I will be successful, and I intend to hit the ground running, working with whichever board members win to beautify Spring Valley. The residents are too good, and they deserve much better than what they have had the last few years."
