Emergency Personnel Respond to Accident With Entrapment in Monsey

Rockland Daily Staff

On Sunday at around 8:50 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a vehicle accident with reported entrapment on Route 202 near Wilder Road and Haverstraw Road.

Emergency responders at the scene included the Hillcrest Fire Company, the Town of Ramapo Police Department, Spring Hill Community Ambulance Corps, and Rockland Paramedics-Medic 24. Firefighters assisted EMS with backboarding the patient and securing the vehicles.

When a patient in one of the cars was noted to be bleeding heavily from the leg, Ramapo Police Officer Genito applied a tourniquet to control the bleeding. A second ambulance was requested after emergency personnel assessed that two patients required medical attention. Both patients were conscious and alert and sustained non-life-threatening injuries from the accident, although one patient was transported to Westchester Medical Center. The second individual refused transport after being evaluated.
