Emergency Personnel Dealing With Bowline Plant Power Generator Explosion

by M. C. Millman

First responders are at the scene of a power generator explosion that occurred around 10:30 a.m. this morning at the Bowline Plant located near the Hudson River.

This morning's event followed a July 13 incident when the plant was in the news over violations of the state air pollution control law.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation issued the violations.

On the same day as bubbling water was detected on the Hudson River near Bowling Point Park, the plant began exuding black smoke.

It was subsequently reported that the black smoke was caused by avoidable operator error, causing boiler flame issues. The DEC said the plant was back in compliance after five minutes.
