Electric Bus Demonstration in Village of New Square

By Idy Perl
As recently reported by Rockland Daily, the Village of New Square has applied for and been tentatively awarded a $26 million project through the EPA’s Clean Heavy-Duty Vehicles Grant Program. This initiative aims to replace 48 diesel school buses with electric buses, benefiting eight fleets across Rockland County that serve thousands of students in the East Ramapo Central School District. The Village of New Square is the applicant for this grant.
This Monday morning, a representative from an electric bus company visited New Square to demonstrate their fully electric Transit buses. The demonstration aimed to assess whether these buses meet the range requirements for the Village’s ‘Tremp’ Shuttle Service routes, while also offering a sales presentation with the hope of securing New Square as a customer.
These efforts were organized and facilitated by Chaim Friedman of Appleland Consulting, a leading expert in providing turnkey solutions for fleet electrification.
