Driver Dies in Car Crash on Palisades Parkway

State troopers from Haverstraw arrived to assist at a one-car crash on the Palisades Parkway in Stony Point around 9 p.m. yesterday. 

A grey 2017 Ford Escape was traveling north on the Palisades Parkway when it left the roadway for unknown reasons between Exit 15 and 16. The Ford entered the center median and hit a tree.  

The driver was Marc R. Fitzsimmons, age 63, from Colonial Beach, Virginia. He was extricated from the vehicle by the Stony Point Fire Department and transported to Nyack Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen a grey silver Ford Escape with Virginia license plates on the Palisades Parkway prior to the crash to contact New York State Police Senior Investigator Carmen Goffredo at 845-364-9424.
