Cows Roaming Road in Chestnut Ridge Retuned to Farm by RPD

Shabbos day found a number of cows strolling the roadway in Chestnut Ridge after wandering off the Threefold Community Farm on Ackertown Road.
Ramapo Police were called to the scene, and they assisted in getting the
cows back to the farm.
“The cows were located in the front yard of a residence. The
cows did not have any ‘beef’ with the officers and were ‘remooved’ from the
roadway and brought back to their farm,” said a post by RPD.
This story brought forth many comments, many of which asked
the public to respect the fact that the cows were in this area before us.
“Remember that cows were there long before people and houses,” said Arthur Henry Gunther III. “This section of the Monsey/Airmont/Tallman/south Spring Valley (Chestnut Ridge) area was covered with dairy and truck crop farms way into the 1950s. Summer bungalows dotted the area, too, and the city residents, who at least doubled the population for the season, marveled at the cows and bought milk from the farmers. A rich history in Ramapo…”
